Sponsorship Levels
Community Announcements: Green/Environmental/Related industries lectures, workshops, conferences or events that are specifically benefitting a local industry-related organization, may have their community announcement included in HVGD's email reminders for free. Email a short paragraph with the details, links, cost, etc. to mce@hvgreendrinks.org by the third week of the month for inclusion. Please do not send attachments.
Event Announcements: If your company has an event coming up that isn't a lecture, workshop or conference or isn't specifically to benefit a local not-for-profit organization, for a small fee, you can have your announcement included in our monthly emails. Formatted like our community announcements, you'll be able to promote your event to HVGD’s almost-1000 email subscribers. Text only, with links in two pre-HVGD event emails and in the post-HVGD event e-newsletter. Cost: $10/month. Deadline applies as above.
2-MINUTE PITCH: An offering at a few Green Drinks’ around the country, HVGD is now offering the 2-Minute Pitch at its monthly events too. It’s a great way to get the word out about what you do/offer.
What is the 2-Minute Pitch, you ask?
A two-minute presentation at an event about your company, product, service, etc. and it includes a listing with link in the morning-of event email reminder (now going out to almost 1000 email addresses).
The cost? All that for a mere $25!
Up to four people/companies per month may pitch and two minutes is TWO minutes. The pitches will be timed and noise makers will be employed when your time is up.
Who can pitch? It is on a somewhat-censored first-come-first-served basis with an emphasis put on companies in the environmental or related fields (this is Green Drinks afterall) and preference will be placed on regular attendees.
If you are interested in signing up for a pitch, contact Marie-Celeste at mce@hvgreendrinks.org to sign-up. Deadline is one week prior to the event. Payment may be made either by cheque or by PayPal.
More sponsorship levels:
Being a Bookworm sponsor happens to be another very accessible sponsorship offered. Each month, an eco-themed book will be given out as a door prize. Flat rate of $50. A simple and economical PR investment!
Gift certificates are courtesy of our Flirt sponsors. It could be a gift certificate for a service, to a boutique or even to purchase grass-fed meat at a local farm. You could even offer something (a product) for a door prize. It's always nice to be able to give out more than a book so think about what your company produces... eco bags? a thermos? Lots of possibilities with a Flirt. Minimum value $50 please.
A Cookie sponsor, sponsor - not monster, offers a little something to each attendee. If you are a manufacturer or distributor of an eco-friendly product, this would be a great option. Please plan on having at least 100 give-aways for the event. Extra will be given back.
The following sponsorships fall under the "higher-dollar sponsorship levels"
Our Supporting sponsor supports a night's entire event. The following sponsorships are add-ons. You must start as a Supporting sponsor then you can add any of the following opportunities:
A Nosh sponsor picks up the tab for a selection of snacks which is prepared by the bar/restaurant and spread out at the beginning of the networking evening. A restaurant hosting a Green Drinks event is always encouraged to offer attendees a sampling of their fare, but it's not a requirement. An outside company could be a Nosh sponsor.
The Skywriter helps support our media campaign.
Our LiveStream sponsor supports a live stream of the night's networking session online - people from around the world can hear about Hudson Valley issues directly from us.
Once or twice a year, Hudson Valley Green Drinks will try to host a movie night (if we can get a sponsor, of course). Our Flick sponsor helps covers that.
An Elixir? You guessed it, the first drink is on you.
Exact benefits for each sponsorship varies, but Some benefits of sponsorship might include:
-
your sponsorship may be acknowledged in one or all of the email-blasts that go out leading up to your month including your logo/contact info;
-
your sponsorship may be listed on the local and international website calendars;
-
your contact information may be linked on the local and international websites;
-
you may be eligible to do a pitch at the event you are sponsoring;
-
LiveStream, Flick, Nosh, Elixir and Skywriter sponsors, you may do a ten minute presentation/chat about your company/services at the event you are sponsoring;
-
Supporter, LiveStream, Flick and Skywriter, your company logo may be printed on attendees' name tags;
-
Supporter, Flick Nosh and Skywriter sponsors, you may be provided with the attendee list for that night's event.

The deadline for a Skywriter sponsorship is about 6 weeks prior to the event you wish to sponsor. Other levels of sponsorship are a little more flexible (about 3 to 4 weeks prior). Please don't hesitate to email or call.

Green Drinks, the concept, has been international for two decades having started in 1989 in England (www.greendrinks.org). HVGD is one of about 600 chapters worldwide (it was #317 in February '08). Some chapters meet at the same bar/restaurant each month, some visit new restaurants in the one city while a few, like HVGD, travel around a region. The international model suggests it not be operated as a business but to keep it as organic and self-organizing as possible. Some have incorporated for profit, others, not-for-profit.
Marie-Celeste Edwards who started HVGD in early 2008 doesn't operate it to make money; she runs it to not lose money - her money. Alas, she has been subsidizing HVGD since the beginning. She takes organizing the events seriously. She visits the restaurants/bars to meet with the owners/managers before booking each space; has dished out deposits on spaces to guarantee the event reservation; purchases new name tags about every other month (if ONLY everybody would recycle them at the end of each event!), she pays for the books given out as door prizes (need more Bookworm Sponsors - hint, hint) and DVDs and pays for the local chapter's website, AND she generously tips each restaurant staffer that works the event, etc., etc., etc. It adds up to real money and unfortunately the $5 at the door charged to each attendee doesn't even come close to paying the "operating expenses".
So, as another year comes to a close and another significant financial loss for Marie-Celeste is on the horizon, a new approach is going to be investigated for 2010.
Having recently attended the inaugural North American Green Drinks Organizers' Conference in Seattle, Marie-Celeste has help on her side - dozens of other organizers all brainstorming options. Sponsors for events, whether offering financial support or products, may start to be seen on the email blasts or on the website. Changes may affect venues.
There's a lot to investigate and as usual, you'll be kept informed through the pages of this website.
Any questions, comments or interest in sponsoring may be addressed to mce@hvgreendrinks.org.
